“You can’t do that”.
“That won’t work.”
“It’s a terrible idea”.
Small thinkers. They’re everywhere. And they’re constantly chipping away at the ones like you and me, who think differently. Who think bigger.
These small thinkers are toxic. They’re people who see the downsides in everything, and never the wonderful opportunity that’s blooming right in front of them.
Forget them.
The worst thing we can do is listen to these people.
We’ve got a big job to do, you and me. We’ve got to build robust, profitable businesses that don’t need us there to thrive. And give us the lifestyle we want.
That requires a certain way of thinking. Of seeing the risks and doing it anyway. Of failing often – but not being distracted by failure.
At least once a week I get an email from a small thinker, usually someone who has opted-in to get my emails, and believes that entitles them to unleash a barrage of criticism at me (for whatever reason).
Now don’t get me wrong, I always listen to clients who have feedback. But I try very hard not to listen to unsolicited critics. Instead I kill them with kindness in my reply, and gladly remove them from my mailing list.
You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. You are heavily swayed by the people whose opinions you choose to listen to.
Who are you listening to today?
